Landscapes
When I am caught by a landscape it is usually because it gives me a sense of drama. I am looking for that drama in my paintings.
I am keen on geology, and like to get to know the deep history of each landscape – where the rocks were laid down, how the layers have been contorted, driven up and eroded.
Painting landscapes gives me a chance to evoke that geological story and maybe even the colour and light of that era creeps in alongside the present day.
